RCW Review – 1989-1992

Ration, Cold Weather (RCW Review)

One of the MREInfo.com forums members, norge, reviewed two RCWs side by side. Once RCW was from June 1989, and the other was from March 1992. RCW’s were used as Cold Weather rations by the United States military from the 1980s through 2000, after which they were replaced by the Meal, Cold Weather (MCW).

Each RCW consists of two meal bags – Bag A for breakfast and bag B for lunch/dinner.

1989 RCW – 1A & 1B
Strawberry Oatmeal & Chicken Stew
1992 RCW – 2A & 2B
Apple & Cinnamon Oatmeal & Beef Stew

Only the Chicken Stew from the 1989 RCW tasted a bit stale – but I’m still alive! 1989 cocoa was better than 1992 cocoa – maybe it was for nostalgic reasons.
