Italian Combat Ration 2002 Module E Dinner

[The following Italian Combat Rations pages and pictures can be found in their original form at the “Die Kampfzuteilung” web site, whose webmaster graciously allowed me to repost them here. I have reproduced the pictures and done a rough translation of the Japanese text into English. The translations are not exact but should get across the spirit of the original text.]

Pasta and Beans

Canned Chicken

The amount of food for dinner is slightly smaller than lunch but is still a considerable amount.
This is the same kind of pasta as from lunch along with red kidney beans and has a light tomato flavor.
The canned chicken was much like the canned pork – a little bit salty but now bad (besides its appearance to cat food). Goes will on crackers.

Crackers

Energy Bar

Instant Coffee

For some reason, the seal on this package of crackers had opened so the crackers had become stale. They probably would have tasted much better fresh. These go well with the various spreads.
This is like a regular sports bar or energy bar, similar to the ones found in US MREs. The caramel inside was soft and had a nice chocolate taste. It did have a faint alcohol smell to it which I did not understand
Same as in breakfast and lunch.

As for the amount of food, I think dinner was the best. Japanese eating customs and Italian eating customs are obviously different. You can learn a lot about the culture of another country through their rations.
