I picked up 2 of these online, one to try and the other for my collection. These things have a long shelf life of 11 years. They taste exactly like you would imagine, sweet. After all they are basically a giant sugar cube. They are designed to keep someone alive, just barely. One bar is 400 calories with 2 bars as a full days ration. So one box is box is for 2 days.

The came also in green color as an "iron ration"

The green one would be better because they also includes water sanitation tablets.

Very interesting, are these meant for marine (Lifeboat) or Aircrew use?
Also I saw Housil's comment about a green package, would the color desinate for Army use

Have German,Russian,Canadian,Lithuanian,Dutch, Israeli,Spanish,HDRs,LRPs,French,US RCWs,FSRs,Italian,Croatian, Polish,Aussie, Czech, Malaysian, Swedish, Australian and Norwegian Arctics.
