shipping FRH?
I heard it's illegal to ship flameless ration heater that come from MREs, is that true? I have around 40 of them and I was wondering if it's possible to sell them and ship them. Thanks

FRHs are classified as "Dangerous When Wet" by the US postal service, and are considered as ORM-D materials. As such they can only be shipped domestic mail by surface transportation. You need to clearly mark the package as "ORM-D Domestic Surface Transportation Only"

I get requests to ship these oversees and across the border into Canada. After speaking to the USPS about shipping to Canada they said "we don't have ground transport to Canada." Therefore, shipping an FRH is illegal and not worth the attempt for a few measly dollars.
Homeland Security is very strict and will not tolerate any business. In as much as people forget we are at war noting the events of Nine-Eleven and the Anthrax scare makes the phrase "too damn bad" sound pretty reasonable.

jfko6, you hit the nail on the head. I've never understood why people sell basically worthless crap on Ebay, for a few measely dollars, and take a chance on the Armed Postal Inspector Dept. busting down there door, for shipping FRH's, Cigarettes, etc. PS, I used to buy cartons of cigarettes at the commisary, and mail them to my Grandmother, back in '80's. Never got caught.
