Hi Norton. Yep, 2009 is correct. Interesting. I've heard that sometimes there can be variances from specs from time-to-time, such as when the contractor has an overstock of a particular component, maybe that is what occurred here. On the outer package, is the soldier figure at the top different, or is it just me? I thought they were all like kmans profile pic. I don't recall seeing this one before, but I could be totally blind and maybe I just never noticed if there were several different ones.

There's no A/B case marking, and the "stamped" menu on the bag is also somewhat suspicious. Does the bag or box list a manufacturer?
I'm using my computer's spare resources to help find cures for diseases, analyze astronomical data, render 3D animations, simulate new materials and run climate models--what is your computer doing? http://boinc.berkeley.edu/ Or ask me for help!

These might be some of the cases intended for a specific "DOD contractor". Look at the logo on the bag, the soldier's weapon appears to be a HK sub machinegun type weapon. The real Military issue MRE bags have a soldier with a M16 rifle, this could be a distinguishing logo intended to differentiate between DOD production MRE's and MRE's produced for other specific contracts. Also, these contractor meals did not necessarily follow the Military meal plan/menu.

These actually appear to be MENU C MRE's. Check out this post! But the menu's are different.

These were supposed to have came from an Aviation unit in the PA ARNG 28th Div.Tomorrow I will photograph the rest of the bag for the Chicken and Dumplings
Then look at the rest of the meals in the case.
Did NG units purchase their own MREs for stateside CONUS use?

The trooper on the bag is clearly holding a HK SMG

I'm not sure how the Guard would have wound up with civy MRE's... Usually they are authorized to draw from post Class I stocks when being engaged in official duties. This still comes from unit funds, I guess they found it cheaper, or logistically acceptable to purchase from a different source.
