Yesterday we were at the neighbors for coffee & cake. While entertaining the kids (2 yrs) we figured out it´s too late for cooking so we made French entrees :mrgreen:

We started with a RCIR soup:

It was "OK". I missed the salty soup taste. It was a warm, something-tasting something.

We "cooked" the tins in hot water. Mine main course was "Dinde Rize Curry" (turkey stew w/ rice curry)

Nice chunks of turkey and a nice rice in curry flavor

Also here some salt was missing and the dish was all over a little bit too "dry" but it was "OK". :?

Second entree was the "Salade Orientale"

I don´t know why they call it a "salad(e)" at least it´s a "stew" made from "orientale" ingredients like kidney beans, lentils, chunks of turkey (too).
That one was much better than the first one. It has a nice, saltier taste.

Dessert was a French pudding

Very smooth texture

A nice, "sweet" taste with just a hint of "vanilla".

On the picture you also saw a US MRE "pudding" :mrgreen:

I have to confess, it was the first time a gave them a try.
It was like a thick, rich McD milk shake. Too bad I use too warm water but I´ll like to have it again :wink:

Cool review! Did they remove the Trans-Fat from the MRE pudding powder?

It looks good Housil, thanks for sharing! :D

I think the French call anything like the entree that is meant to be eaten cold a "salad", but I could be wrong.

That´s a nice idea I like.

We also have a non-salad called a "salad".

Make a vinaigrette like you prepare an "real" green salad, but replace it with sausage - called "Wurst Salat" (sausage salad)

This one looks fantastic, Housil! I will have to look out for a vanilla pudding for you so you can try it with cold water. It is very good then!

Very nice review, making me want curry now!

It looks like turkey meat is excellent cuts from your photo. The Oriental stew ( "orientale" ) from the photo looks like an American meal from down South.
Certainly the kidney beans and lentils are familiar. It looks good from here for lunch or dinner.

How was the green potato soup? Reason for green color? Did it taste of split peas? :?:

I've never seen the Creme Desert before, that looks quite good! The stew also looks good, I've wanted to try one of those.

As for the pudding? I have a few I can donate :P Probably one of my least favorite items when it comes to US MRE's. But then again, I'm not big on pudding overall.
