Looks like a Corcoran "Jump" boot. Not issue, but authorized for wear, at Soldiers own expense. Not really made for field use. The dumbass probably found out the hard way, these are just for garrison use, threw them away, and put on his "Mickey Mouse" boots, because his feet were freezing.

Here are my two pairs of „Mickeys“, one black, one white. I use them when I´m going fishing, they keep feet dry and warm!
The black 'Mickies' are great boots, perfect for wet, cold areas. The white ones are for dry cold, although the newer ones can get wet too. I have several 'Old' black sets, no air valve, just felt I guess...
Mine are from the early 70's
