British rations on Ebay from 2004

Howdy fellow members,

I was wondering why most/all of the British 24-hour rations solld on Ebay lately are from 2004? Especially the ones offered in a full case of ten rations.

Could someone help me thinkin'? I don't have a clue what would be with those rations or where the're from?

I'm guessing that these were some of the rations delivered to the United States in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina hit. A few of the rations got through before they stopped distributing them (because they supposedly didn't have import approval).

So if these are really from the Katrina relief supplies, they're either from the few cases that got through or someone who was supposed to "dispose of them properly" found a more creative way to dispose of them.

As these are on Ebay Germany, I guess they aren´t from Katrina. The seller "UK-Soldier" sales 2004/2005 rations only.

Sorry guys for being not specific enough in my question.
I meant Ebay within the EU, like Netherlands, Germany and the UK.

Katrina is probably the best answer. Thanks for that. I didn't think of it. Probably because we don't have hurricanes here in the NL.

Another possibility might be that with the Iraq war spinning up in 2002, by 2004, there might have been a lot of extra British rations floating around the market and they're just now making their way to eBay as the owners fear that the rations are approaching their expiration dates.

A case with 10 boxes start at €99 on ebay Germany every week...

When I tried the chicken soup out of it, i deceided to stop buying them. It tasted and smelled like melted chicken bones.

Sorry guy´s, but now I know why in UK pubs they just drink instead of eating...

If they were made for Iraq, why didn´t they made more desert (hot climate) rations?

That reminds me of how the British "Chicken & Herb Dumlings" entree contains this warning on the entree pouch:

"WARNING THIS PRODUCT MAY CONTAIN BONES"
