Yeah, the M6 on auctionarms or gunbroker was already at $300 with 5 days left to bid

I guess the price isn't close anymore, but you can still get the ar-7/Henry Survival rifles for ~$150 no problem.

I have something similar, a savage 24, C model, I think...
.22 upper and 20 gauge shotgun under. fairly good gun, although the .22 extracter doesn't work every time, just an annoyance !
I bought for my son, he thought it kicked too much...
I bought him a Remington 700 BDL in .270 some years later, same whine, 'It kicks too much'

Took me a while, no more guns for him !!!

Yeah, my friends grandparents had a .22/.410 o/u when I was growing up I loved to shoot, and apparently it's sort of a collectors item now, hard to find good quality ones, and the ones I do find are usually rusty and the .22 ejector has a problem (imagine that). I'll get one eventually, but I'm headed to China in 6 mos, so I'm saving up for that right now, but once I get back... it's on. Plus they break down in half anyway, so that's as good as most of those other ones.

that is a nice rifle. i dont own one but i have fired one. i have a bushmaster dissipator and i love it. i am going to get a bushmaster .223 pistol those things are awesome. plus i can keep my calibers and magazines interchangeable. and no i dont work for bushmaster just like them. would rather have had a stag arms left handed ar-15 but could not justify the price.

I had occasion to use a colt XM-177, back in the day. Stubby lil sh*t, and was it LOUD!!! wasn't much of a bbl, maybe 9 inches...

Did I mention it was LOUD !!!

They didn't let you wear hearing protection back then, which is why I'm pretty much deaf on one side and hard of hearing on the other !

and you want a .223 pistol ??
Actually, I have a .223 barrel for my T/C contender, love to use it, its a real tack driver ! I also have a 7-30 Waters bbl, a necked down 30-30, sweet little deer cartridge, not as much recoil as the .223...

Dirtbag: When I was a small little c-rat we too had a Savage over/under, but it was .22LR over .410ga shotgun. It was actually the first firearm my dad let me shoot, and I shot it a lot as a kid. `Lottsa fond memories there.....

I started shooting when I was 6, used a .22 Stevens favorite, then got a little remington rolling block .22, both neat kids guns. I used to borrow my grandfathers .410, winchester I think. Then when I thought I was grown up, (must of been 12) I started using another of my gramp's guns, an 1895 Winchester 12 gauge pump, 32 inch barrel, goose gun !
That thing like to kick my ass !
One heck of a rabbit gun, tho...
Then I started using an old double barrel 12, until I found out about 'Damascus steel barrels'.

Damn fine gun, but I liked my fingers and face more!

When I went into the Navy, they were still using '03 Springfields for drill, Garands for live fire. My first two ships were WW-2 era cans, we had M1 Garands, M1 Carbines, BAR's, Thompson's etc. The next boat was modern,M-16's,M-60's, M-79's Etc. My fourth and last ship had M-14's and 60's.
One constant through the years, they ALL had M-1911 .45 Colts !

Much better than the 9 mm Peashooter !
