You're right: two breakfast menus.

I have a regular doctor and a VA doctor. My regular guy tells me I am very slightly high in potassium, and shrugs. The VA doc thinks being one tenth of a something-or-other over the normal range is significant. I'm going with my regular Doc's assessment - I'm symptom free and my kidneys have managed to make it 71 years. I'll avoid bananas and avocados and cantaloupes and anything else I find that's high in potassium (few nutrition labels even list it) but if anybody thinks I'm giving up tomatoes they'd better think again.

Anyway, back to the world of high carb, high salt, bags of junk food they call US MREs.

Yeah, I hate it how if your blood pressure comes in around 125/85, they look at you like they can't figure out why you're still alive.

Back to the menus:
I love how the menu names change. Like menu 3. IN 2015 it was Chicken w/Noodles, in 2016 it was Chicken w/Egg Noodles & Vegetables, in 2017 it's Chicken, Egg Noodles, and Vegetables, in Sauce. Do you think they have meetings and argue what each menu name should be from year to year? Changing the names is good in that it helps us decide which decade a date code is but I would guess that is not why they do it.

It appears that some of those might be discontinued items, and that he numbers them according to his own system, not the official one.

How often do you Americans change the MRE menus anyways? It looks like every year has something different, while I'm used to the French RICRs which have been the same for over a decade... Not that there's any real need to change them! (Apart from the Creole pineapple rice, this is a godless abomination and even street cats usually don't want the pork that's inside)

And regarding the listed menus, I can recommend the Chicken Pesto Pasta and Beef Shredded in Barbecue Sauce one, while you'd better stay away from the Lemon Pepper Tuna. By the way, aren't there many choices because breakfasts are listed as well? (not familiar with US culture, but I've heard that hash browns are a morning thing... might be BS though)

RCIR's are subject to change too. Menu 10 for example, from pork to duck.

Now that #7 is interesting, man. Beef strips in a tomato sauce? Sounds like they tryed to copy the German EPa Hamburgers in Tomato Sauce. Seems the Germans discontinued that main for a couple of years, then brought it back, due to popular demand. I'll be looking for that #7 and yes, probably be disappointed. We'll see.

The problem (as always) is that you have a taste memory of real goulash, but the MRE version is going to come up short of that. WAY short. It'll be bland, with that heavy preservative and plastic flavor, served up with hot and cold spots from a half-ass FRH, and in a puny serving size.
