British and Australian rations groups on FB

I guess there's a few members of the forum active on Facebook. Just letting you know of two very good FB groups related to rations, which are a great resource to compliment mreinfo.com's International Rations forum. I don't run or moderate either of these groups, but I actively post in them both. The admin of both groups is Steve Darby out of the UK.


The first is the WWI - WW2 British Rations FB group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/226602644193336/
This one provides detailed info on British rations of the Great War and Second World War, and is also geared towards re-enactment so there's a lot of info on making and using edible rations. If you're into that sort of thing there's also a fair bit of info on British wartime field cookery and stoves.


The second one is the Australian Military Rations - WWI to Present Day FB group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/162540611070449/
If you love Aussie EFRs, CR1Ms, CR5Ms, PR1Ms and such then you'll see a wealth of info on these from pre-Vietnam era development through to modern menus. There's also a heavy focus on Australian rations of the WWII-era, and this group is THE premiere source for info on Australian WWII and Vietnam-era rations.

Anyone know any other good International/Historic military rations groups on FB?

Don't post that you plan on opening or reviewing any rations in the WW1-WW2 group though. I'm a member and was utterly lambasted when I dared mention that I would eventually review my WW2 British Emergency Chocolate Ration. Members went as far as saying that they hoped I got sick, that I must be a "f$%#ing Yank" (I'm Canadian) and that it's no different from buying a priceless painting and then destroying it.
Kinda turned me off from the group, but the post-WW2 group has been fine.

Ah, that was you getting hammered on that thread. Yeah, I remember reading it and I did note that it was just one bloke going OCD-nuts about your plans to sample the delicacy which was the WWII British emergency ration. I think I actually blocked that fellow so I wouldn't have to ever again lose precious minutes of my life peering into his dark and angry soul via his FB posts in said group.

I think I've myself been blocked over there by other people by proving that the same emergency ration had precisely 0% amphetamine content. FB is full of closed-minded, bored or just generally angry folks. The block function keeps the worst of them at bay and it's otherwise a good resource.

That guy was crazy. I notice that he hasn't posted since then. I haven't gotten a chance to review it yet, another idea always seems to come up and pushes it down the list. Haha

Hahaha thankfully I have a cool unfinished basement so when I store stuff it hopefully doesn't degrade too much. But yeah, when I do open that thing it could be toast. Although a lot of the vintage rations I have reviewed have been in pretty good shape for the most part.
