Did I get a good deal?

Post by TummaTime45 » Wed Jan 24, 2018 2:59 pm

First off I want to ask the question are these really from the Vietnam era? I just won 2 Combat Individual rations from the Vietnam war. They both have the main courses in them and sides and the accessory packets. For each off the accessory packets, they have cigs in them. I have just seen plain accessory packets with cigs in them selling for minimum $40 a piece. The fact I got to accessory packets for almost the price of one is amazing! These will go great with my collection.

Hopefully the cigs are in still good condition because I will be making a video on these and will be smoking one if they are still ok! :)

I only paid $31 for both of these rations in an eBay auction! I can't wait to get them! Here is pictures of it: I will post more pics if you want to see them but didn't get them yet to see the cigs!

MCI accesory kits with cigarettes were only produced until 1974 or 1972, dont remember which of those 2 it was, so they are made in the vietnam era.

I'd say you got a good deal. My wife loves those cigarettes, says the aging makes em bold but smooth. Idk I don't smoke, but she says to a smoker they are a real treat.
it is what it is....

Nice! Would love to make a deal for the remaining smokes if you're amenable.

On the one can there is a number that says 68 so I am thinking that is when it was from! You can see it in the one picture. :)

I did happen to smoke one cig from my other pack I got and I can tell you it tasted pretty good, but keep in mind I don't smoke so I don't inhale it  I am more of a cigar smoker where you just enjoy the taste of them and honestly the cig was quite tasty. I am not sure if its from age but either way it was pretty nice to smoke, but it just burned to quick because it was so dry! That's what my humidor is for! :D

If you are interested I would be able to share the love and probably get rid of one! I don't want to be the only one to enjoy these rare smokes! It's not everyday you have the chance to smoke a 50 year old cig!

I'll be in touch with you once I open these up and check them out! :)

You can put them in a mason jar with a Boveda 62% humidipak, available for about $1 at most tobacco stores. Leave en in a cpl days and like new. Works great with stale cigars also :D
