Sorry Rudi, I can’t agree to your statement, that you can buy Uniforms in ERDL Pattern on every flea market in Germany. You have to differ between the usual BDU in woodland camouflage pattern which was issued since 1982 (thats right, you can find it on every flea market in Germany, with those you can “feed pigs”, ) and were replaced (only Army, not Air Force) by the new ACU. The ERDL (Engineer Research and Development Laboratory) Camouflage Tropical Uniforms were issued in Vietnam War and are hard to find. In eBay you pay 25 to 35 EURO for a uniform coat, for the pants even more. About 1979 to 1981 the so-called RDF-Uniform (Rapid Deployment Force) were issued to some Army units and the Marines. The pattern of these uniforms was nearly similar to the ERDL Uniforms, the cut nearly similar to the BDU-Uniforms. These are hard to find too, the prices on eBay are nearly the same as for ERDL Tropical Uniforms.

You're luky enough in Germany and the States to find military surplus clothes at a fairly decent price, here in France a German flecktarn jacket you'd pay, say, 5 euros is sold about 30 euros on any flea market. The French army clothes are not really cheaper and the original US ones are as expensive as Haute couture. :?

Actually the price for new USGI BDU shirts and pants is also about 30€ or about $35 each here in the States as well. Many of the ones that are sold for less in surplus stores are poorly made for the consumer market.

And worse yet, there is a company called Pro-Tuff that makes BDUs for law enforcement and emergency medical services, and those usually go for about $70 each.
