Customs question

Post by TechManDan » Wed May 24, 2017 5:55 pm

How long should something be stuck in customs before I should start to worry? I have a package from Latvia that has been stuck in customs for a week now. The status is that it has been processed though a facility ISC New York. I have had received the same status for several packages before and always recieved them 3 days later. I get rations from overseas quite often, every 2 weeks for the past year and half. I like to replenish the rations I consume. The longest one was in customs was 2 days and its usually due to them recieving on the weekend. One day in customs usually is what I see, the best one was one package spent less than an hour there.

I receive packages regularly from overseas also. My longest customs wait was 3 days, for a package they opened that was leaking. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya :D

I've had stuff get tied up for just over two weeks before, and it arrived unmolested. I wouldn't worry too much yet. :)

You never know. I've had them only there for a few days and get completely robbed. Then I've had some from other places that sat there for 2 weeks and it was totally fine.

In the last month I had a case, when the tracking status showed inbound into customs, but in reality it was already in transit to destination, the next status was arrived to the destiantion post office

I have noticed, that parcels shipped with priority mail to US are scanned everywhere and everytime so you see the current status, while non priority are not and the case described by Delicious can therefore happen.

Yes sometimes after it hits customs, it just comes to your door before the tracking can catch up to it. Usually with faster speeds.

Parcel Post or Post Select packages are not tracked the same, if at all.

NYC customs gained so much extra weight ever since I started ordering rations.

I was worried for nothing, luckily my rations arrived yesterday unmolested! After arriving at customs there were no tracking updates until it got to my local post office. So its a mystery as to where it was for the extra few days. The usps tracking can be extremely spotty with the use of automated scanners used at the postal hubs. Unfortunately I've had some packages bounce back and forth from the main postal hub and the one downtown Milwaukee before hitting my local post office, usually adds an extra day though.
