MRE Cups

Post by Biobrew »

Watching Synthpeter's recent review of the 2010 Menu 11 vegetable lasagna, I was reminded of some old discussion about the hot beverage bags. Let's face it, these are light, but not very convenient to use. Does anyone have any insight as to why the military doesn't spec out a collapsible cup? They are light and made of plastic, and collapse into a very compact disc. We had them when I was kid, they looked like this:

Maybe it's that they are likely a little more expensive than the bags?

I still have one of those. It makes a great travel cup to keep in your toiletries bag. Not too sure how useful it would be in an MRE. Too durable to use once, and too bulky to pack in every meal.

The Canadian beverage bag is what tops ours it has the ability to stand vertical on its own while having almost the exact same properties of the us one, if we could just *cough* rip off that design we'd be set.

"Stand-up" bottoms on the bev bag AND the meal retorts would be awesome.

I agree more than likely if we were to see something like this it would be quite awhile since they would have to go through the current stock

Nope, no bev bag in a TOTM. They always have coffee, but no way to fix it.

That's a shame, it's a moot point regardless I doubt they adapt them into military MREs anyways.
