Ketchup
Aside from Canadian imp's...does anyone know of an international ration that includes ketchup? I haven't seen one yet. Here in North America ketchup is very common, I don't know anyone who doesn't like it. Is ketchup a popular civilian condiment over in Europe?

Re: Ketchup
Funny. I had a talk about this as to whether this is a healthy choice or not with my doctor.
Basically, he didn't discourage it's use since it has some good ingredients (trying to think of name). O yes, lycopine.
I know its a bit high in sugar. Some don't think it's so great an item from some other doctors.
Basically, it's high in sugar. Just so ya'll know.

US MRE's used to come with ketchup. It was dehydrated but it was ketchup just the same.
The first to bring you the MRE pizza stone.

It's popular but it's not like everyone here likes it it's mostly used with french fries. In Germany they even have this sausages you get with ketchup and curry called currywurst.Westview wrote:Aside from Canadian imp's...does anyone know of an international ration that includes ketchup? In rations you have them (or tomato paste/puree kind) in some Russian, UN, Australian and Sweden I think, cant remember more in this moment.
Re: Ketchup
Some Russian IRP's come with a tomato sauce, which is really a Russian version of ketchup.

Re: Ketchup
Thanks for the reply Asger, I guess it's the same thing with peanut butter. It's a very popular spread here in North America, but in Europe they like fruit jams and meat spreads. I doubt we'll ever see a pate or meat spread in a US MRE or Canadian IMP.Asger wrote:It's popular but it's not like everyone here likes it it's mostly used with french fries. Yes I remember seeing those little "catsup" packages in older MRE's, shame they turn into a solid wafer after a few years.shawker71 wrote:US MRE's used to come with ketchup. It was dehydrated but it was ketchup just the same.
Re: Ketchup
Early MREs had these, freezedried. You just had to add two spoons of water. It came with the freezedried beef patty. It was call "catsup"shawker71 wrote:US MRE's used to come with ketchup. It was dehydrated but it was ketchup just the same.

Mayonaise is more popular than ketchup, worldwide.Westview wrote:Aside from Canadian imp's...does anyone know of an international ration that includes ketchup? I haven't seen one yet. I am Canadian and while arguably I'd say more people prefer ketchup over mayo as a condiment, I definitely prefer mayo for fries.

Re: Ketchup
Hmmm, I've never tried that. I've had fries with mustard, or ketchup, ranch dressing, honey mustard, and a couple of times with ketchup and mayo mixed together, but never with mayo by itself. I'll have to give that a try.magu2k wrote: I am Canadian and while arguably I'd say more people prefer ketchup over mayo as a condiment, I definitely prefer mayo for fries.
