New first strike ration

Post by Treesuit » Wed Nov 08, 2006 1:36 am

Hey does anybody have or has actually seen the new First Strike Ration that is supposed to be coming out. I read in a article that the ration is supposed to be making it's introduction in 2007 but there might be some prototypes being field tested with certain units. Does anybody know where somebody might actually have one for sale or can get one. If so please post it here on the site. I'd love to be able to get my hands on one and do a review for the site memebers. thanks

Hey Treesuit - good to see you back in the forums. I haven't seen any of those First Strike Rations around anywhere - haven't even heard of any reports from people who've tried them. It sounds like they're keeping the test groups/samples pretty close.

Kman,
I agree it is a remote shot that somebody or anybody has seen that First Strike Ration. I figured somebody who might be on active duty military and vists this forum would have some knowledge. The only article I saw was in a Army quaterly magazine and it described the new ration coming out. Technically the Army wants something to replace the MRE say when troops go into combat and can't get resupplied for some hours or days. The plan in theory is to give the First Strike to the troops and have that last for a three day minimum up until the supply lines can be established. Good in theory but I kind of forsee problems with that. Anybody agree with that?

Hey Dave,
Any chance you might have a contact that could manage to wrangle a couple and have you or kman give us a taste test. Or at least maybe trade a case of 2006 MRE's for one or two and let the rest of us post the reults here on the site. Could prove interesting?

Unknown, but if I get any, I'll let the board know, and Kman would get the first unopened 1. Happy Thanksgiving, and remember to eat the Schrimp coctails. It's an ARMY mess hall thing, for Thanksgiving. Benning, Riley, Gerp, Sill, Benning. I kid you not!

It doesn't look like this is the whole FSR. I've seen the exact pictures on other sites before, but they always came with a LOT more then a bar, some gum and a drink mix.
