Hello,
just one (silly?) question : what do you do when you have an entree with a separate side dish as noodles, rice, potato mash... and only ONE heater in the pack?
I've never tried to put two food bags in the heater at once but I fear they're too big
I HATE cold noodles!

I usually put the main entree in the heater, start up the heater, and put put it all back in the entree box. Then I take the side side and shove it under the heater in the entree box. It's a tight fit but I can usually get it in there and while the side dish doesn't get as hot as it would in its own heater, it's definitely warmer than if you did nothing. Give it a try!

Ok, thanks for the tip kman.
I think I'm going to test this on a 2003 MRE (#4 menu) :
if I don't succeed in getting everything warm, I just throw the Country Captain Chicken and eat the noodles

Another thing I like to do when I use this heating method is to dump the side dish into the entree pouch once everything is heated up. This way, if the side dish isn't too hot, it'll warm up even more by coming into contact with the hot entree.

Sometimes i'll set the cheese spread in the very end to soften it too, and after you've heated up the food there's usually enough heat to warm up the cookie!
If i'm out quadding/sledding/snowshoeing i'll set my gloves on top of the entree/heater/side while they're warming - helps keep the heat in and nicely warms my gloves!

right, I guess that's where I should have posted it first
Ok for the cheese/cookie/gloves ... that's perfect, when the main entree, the side dish and all this will be warm, I'm sure I'll still be able to warm up my boots too
P.S. I found MRE's perfect for amateur radio portable activity, contests and specialy the Field Day

Same here, i use them a lot on Ham gatherings in the boonies, and Search & Rescue tasks, still winning people over to the MRE side when they're eating cold sandwiches and i have a piping hot pack of beef stew!
