Jericho
One brain cell floating around between my ears actually ran into another one. A rare event, I assure you. The two agreed that a synapse should be fired on this topic. Does anyone else think that the CBS television drama "Jericho" is / will have an effect on emergency preparedness?
I think it could have an effect - we'll just have to see how they treat the idea of food and supplies. It's been interesting so far what with how they're handling the grocery store - sometimes you feel bad for the woman running the store and sometimes you feel like she's being a greedy bitch.
My whole concern with the show is how CBS is going to handle it. Are they going to turn into this little politically correct village where everyone shares and shares alike and works for the betterment of mankind? Or are they going to get a little more gritty and realistic?
And here's my other gripe about the show...the location. Come on...I'm expecting the guys from "The Unit" to pop out of the bushes at any minute. It's bad enough on The Unit (most excellent show, btw) that every single locaton they go to - be it Columbia, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Seattle, etc. - looks suspiciously like Southern California. But now Jericho is starting to look the same, too. And to make it even worse...I saw an old episode of "The A Team" last week and the scenery looked the same as in The Unit and Jericho. Methinks CBS owns a bunch of land near the studios and they're too cheap to film on more realistic locations.
Ok...sorry for the scenery rant...back to Jericho and emergency preparedness...
I'm shocked that we're five or six episodes into the season and we still haven't seen a single MRE!

Agreed kman. Where are the gun totin' hoardes? Where are the camping survivors? In the PC world of network TV, all SHTF survivors stay at home w/o generators, living in peaceful coexistence with their fellow man and organizing barbeques and corn harvesting get-togethers while they sing kum-by-ah.
Where are the Zombies!

You'd think the producers of such "drama" would put the real truth out there.
The time between civility and civil unrest is about three meals.....look at what happened in South Flor-DUH after Hurricane Wilma......mass looting, fighting in the lines for food & fuel...........and whining that the Feds were not here fast enough.
In New Orleans after Katrina, the cops cut-n-ran, anything that wasn't tied down was stolen, and for a brief period, thugs ran the streets with AK's and attitude.......oh and people whining that the Feds were not there fast enough
By the way, anyone know how much salt you have to put in the water when boiling up a looted pair of Nikes or a big screen TV?
The only thing that will stir the majority of Americans to prepare, is for them to suffer from the lack of preparation first.
It's folks that live ready, who will live better... than those who are not.....
