Looking for rations
I've been looking to get into reviewing rations on YouTube after being a longtime watcher of folks like KiwiDude, Gschultz9, and Gundog4314. Do any of you have a good source for buying rations, or perhaps would be willing to sell me some yourselves? For my first review I'd like to do a Russian IRP (I can speak and read a fair amount of Russian so I thought it would give good perspective to the review) or a Canadian IMP. Anyway let me know if you guys have answers to my questions, thanks!
Re: Looking for rations
There are plenty of listings for Russian IRP's on eBay right now. If you live near a military base you should also check out the Craigslist listings in you area as well.

Thanks man. I hadn't thought about the military dimension before so now I feel like an idiot. I have two friends currently serving in the marine corps that could probly help me out getting MREs

Re: Looking for rations
Never feel like an idiot. We all started in the hobby not knowing about it. That's why we joined the forum and why we are still here. Learning every day and helping others to learn.
eBay is a pretty solid source for purchasing internationals. But be sure to check shipping prices before you buy.
There are a couple members here that are sellers in eBay and they all have proven themselves to be quality sellers. That is where most of us start.
Also, at least for me, gun shows have been a pretty good source of rations.
Hope this helps and welcome to the forums!

Here's a thread made by BlackDogBob on how to find "hidden gems" viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6175JasterSkirata wrote:I've been looking to get into reviewing rations on YouTube after being a longtime watcher of folks like KiwiDude, Gschultz9, and Gundog4314. You can use eBay to find all sorts of rations ranging from North America, Europe, Oceania, and even from Asia , and occasionally rare ones such as this one from the Yugoslav Wars Era:

Gun shows and military surplus stores often have MREs and other rations available. Obviously as mentioned above, you can search craigslist or ask people you know, or even ask fellow members from this forum

But beware shipping to and from other countries. Customs and postal services from around the world may open/damage/confiscate the contents of your parcels. Dairy and meat products may be confiscated. However, these horror stories are can be uncommon. Also shipping may take months from certain countries.
Also, since you started or planning on starting a channel, take time to edit videos and such. Steve 1989, stickyfingaz745, and the others listed above often obtain MREs and other rations through trading and gifting each other. Subscribers would sometimes even send rations to the youtubers. Depending on your travels you might even be able to obtain rations on trips to various countries.
Happy Hunting
EDIT: Try asking around the forums to see how other enthusiast obtain MREs, some may have a few tricks up their sleeves.
Good luck and may your rations stay unspoiled!

Re: Looking for rations
You might also want to post a thread in the members forum section introducing yourself and what you want to do and are looking for. Many folks only look at this thread when they want to trade for something.

Yes. What he said.BlackDogBob wrote:You might also want to post a thread in the members forum section introducing yourself and what you want to do and are looking for. Many folks only look at this thread when they want to trade for something.
So go introduce yourself, join in the convos, and you'll be amazed at how quickly you learn and things come together.

Having BT/DT, i'd be happy to advise and share knowledge, PM me anytime.

Like BlackDogBob said, one of the best things about this hobby is the quality of people within it!

Re: Looking for rations
Thanks a lot guys I'll make a post in the introductions this evening. When I'm just starting out like this I'll go ahead and make a promise to review anything people send me the day I get it. (I know that won't be feasible if I get a large following like those guys but for now it might be a good incentive if people know that things they send me will get reviewed immediately)
