Great review and I agree with rattattoo The English Biscuits/cookies I have had in past seemed to be richer than US products of similar type. I don't know if it's the shortening mix. But they seem to have a better texture, more silky.
I had a' Battle Axe Sister' In Law from Britain and the one good thing she did was bring me English made biscuits at Christmas and some good yellow custard type pudding in can.
I liked it. I think the English Ration is a first class product

It´s as Steve said, "Duncan" lost the military contract so they went out of business. Too bad, to me they made the best ever ration milk chocolate.Vlaanderen wrote: Hi Housil,
Out of curiosity, which chocolate company do you speak of?.

As a long term user of these (21 odd years) the logic is that breakfast is eaten hot in a harbour area before setting out for the day. During the day you'll snack as you go, heating up water for hit drinks and the soup when you can. The main meal is intended to be eaten in a harbour area before last light so you have a belly full of hot food before any night time activity when it may be colder.
