Big thanks to steve1989 for sending me this UK ration. Final review!

Lunch - Prepared
Lunch at last! I boiled the Leek & Potato Soup for about 10 minutes, until it was piping hot. It takes a little time to get everything plated and photographed and everything tends to cool off so as-hot-as-possible seems prudent most of the time. When I stop to write as I'm tasting each thing the meal cools even further so it's a challenge to get to the end before it's all cold again.

What can I tell you about the potato soup? It was rich and creamy, with just the right level of saltiness. There were ample leeks, and potato chunks galore. The portion was pretty large and overall it was very filling.

The cookies and cream cereal bar was a fantastic snack. Chocolate cookie chunks and cream flavoring that wasn't spoiled so it was very enjoyable. I'd eaten a Canadian cookies and cream bar not too long ago that had spoiled, but that was a white chocolate bar.

The Ginger Crunch Biscuit had a texture like a digestive, with noticeable ginger taste (and pieces). I paired it with the peanut butter and it was a perfect match. By the way... that peanut butter? Made in the USA! The Old Fashioned Foods company of Wisconsin produced it.

I hadn't had Blackcurrant juice before, but I found it to be neat. It was tart but sweet. The other beverage I had this time was the caramel hot chocolate. It unfortunately tasted a little burnt, perhaps because I used boiling water? It was still very good overall, albeit a little strange.

Last but not least - finished it off with the last of the gum. I have a few components left (Ty-phoo tea, Nescafe coffee, apple energy drink) that I'll add to the random bits and pieces I use day to day and they'll get consumed some day soon for sure. Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed the three part review!

Great and details review - thx for it. I like how the Brits improved their rations with new components. Too bad that chocolate company they had before ran out of business.

If the ginger biscuits were anything like these McVitie's, they are indeed tasty.
I have long preferred the British "biscuits" to American cookies. Same things, different names. However, I find that the British products are at least as, if not more, tasty than the American ones, and they have nowhere near as much sugar. Nothing beats homemade, but today's American products are certainly not the same as the ones I was grew up on even if the names remain the same, so, given the choice, I will always take a British biscuit.

Great idea though, pairing them with the peanut butter.

rattattoo: Great series of reviews, I'm impatiently waiting on a good time to review the UK 24 Hour pack I have. Menu 3 I think.

Kind of you to say, but RulerYak is the reviewer for the whole 24-hour/three-meal/three-part series, I just tagged in here.
However, it will be great to see your take on the same type item.

Norman, here is the link housil sent me once - Duncan's Chocolate sadly is not around anymore. British MoD canceled the contract w/ Duncans and they couldn't replace the losses and closed. Very sad, for it was amazing chocolate.

Sorry for jumping in on Norman's question to you Housil i hope that is okay, i was just so fascinated in Duncan's chocolate for over 10 years.

And Ruleryak, this is an awesome conclusion on what has to be one of the nicest British 24hr Ration reviews! :D

Cool. The only chocolate bar I thought the 24hr rats came with was the Yorkie bar. (not for civvies..)

Interesting bit of trivia. Thanks. ;)
