My cousin (active duty) sent me a Chicken with tomatoes and Feta meal.
I know this meal has been reviewed, but this is my first time eating it so here is my take
Saved the main entree for a water trip.
So this beautiful chilly fall weekend I went on the river an found a campsite. Then made a fine G.I. meal with Swedish mess kit
Did not think this would be enough for me, so I combined this with white chicken, rice and vegetables.
Also added a corn bread as filler
Found the chicken with feta had a nice tangy flavor. Some garlic and a sort of slight citrus flavor. This I assume was from the tomatoes.
I would say this meals flavor was different from most of the other tomato based. It was not the traditional paste type texture, nor was it sweet.
The meat was large two inch chunks of tender, but stringy meat.
The chicken with rice and vegetables took up the flavor of the feta chicken, The combination was a good mix. The carrots and other vegetables were small pieces, but they had a good flavor.
The cornbread just disinterested and mixed in adding body to the sauce.
For breakfast I heated a slab of retort packed SPAM and laid it on top of hot lemon pound with poppy seed cake.
With a hot cup of coffee it was a nice clean breakfast. The salty SPAM went well the with sweet Lemon cake.
Sort of a pancake like meal. If I had a pack of Syrup it would have been perfect

Nice review Norton! This is one menu that I haven't gotten around to trying yet, so it's nice to hear other people's opinions on it. I've got 2 or 3 of them in my stock, I need to give it a try. It sounds pretty good. Looked like a nice outing there!

That meal is either loved or hated with no middle ground. As it has been discontinued, I suppose the haters won out.
I think it's fine, but it does have to be eaten hot. Even warm isn't enough; there's an unpleasant aspect to it unless it's piping hot. And even then, you'll belch feta for hours.

Exactly.I saved the only Feta Chicken I had because I like feta and I like chicken so I thought nothing can be wrong with this combination. Then one day I didn't have time to cook.I heated the entree and the side with the FRH.Opened the pouch...ignored the smell...and I have to say that without the cornbread stuffing I couldn't have eaten the feta chicken...RockyRaab wrote:That meal is either loved or hated with no middle ground. The same with the Mexican Chicken menu.I had high expectations but It turned out to be disappointing. It was a 3 year old Ameriqual MRE.It was better than the Feta Chicken especially with Santa Fe Rice but it had a very strong "processed" smell and taste.I expected something like the Chicken Fajita which is (used to be) my favourite chicken entree. But I will definitely try it again.
