Norton, it was a can of Tushonka which is canned boiled meat with spices.. is heavy on salt and a lot of fat. Sometimes is the equivalent to Spam in Russia....
I guess these guys found a 70 year old can in the wreckage of a WWII fighter plane. they were saying that the can could had contained botulism but if you noticed the can wasn't bulky so they tried the old sniff and taste method.....lol
Probably was a can made in the USA or made with US meat.

Tushonka was made in the US and sent to the soviet military during WWII

I saw some photos of a Bell P 39 Aircobra found in Russia that had edible canned U.S. rations in the tool compartment The cans were made in US Pork /Lard
By the way the P 39 had the USA's early marking of the star with Red Dot in the center, then RAF red white and blue bull's eye and last a faded Red Star painted over US/British markings. You could see the outlines of all three national markings in the same photo.
The cans were well sealed in the 1940's thats for sure

When I saw this vid and could see some cans were popping at the bottom, you knew what was up. The other can was intact.
By the way I have been looking for that WW2 Ad from Purinia Ralston for Tushonka.

Actually the can you posted says "Tushonka" and yes many companies including Swift made these for the soviets back in WWII. It was simple pork or beef with spices and lard.
