Does anyone have ideas about where I could buy MRE components?
I've used e-bay, and there are several other vendors who sell a few items - but I was wondering if there might be a way to contact some of the subcontractors who produce the components for the complete MRE?
Let's face it, some of the individual components are great!

Outside of the usual third-party vendors like theepicenter.com, mrefoods.com, and longlife(but expensive)foods.com, you could probably try contacting the various parts and pieces subcontractors yourself to see what kind of prices you can get if they sell any of it surplus. But I'm guess you're going to have to buy it in huge lot sizes (30-70 pieces).
What kind of components are you looking for?

Major Surplus in Southern California at http://www.majorsurplusnsurvival.com. I’m in SoCal and have shopped there off and on for years. There inventory turns over fast so call for availability. I was in there once and a guy and what appeared to be three wives with more kids than I could count were stocking up for Y2K. Since it hit the fan in the Middle East, however, there seams to be fewer factory over runs compared to pre 911.
Thanks to all of you for your replies!
Kman, I appreciate the listings you mentioned; I found them using a combination of Google, Froogle, and Google News. The problem is, many of the components are (apparently) not available in any way, manner or fashion. I tend to look at discussions and think how good something would be to add to my stash - so, in the new menu, getting some jalapeno ketchup might be nice. The cinnamon apples look good. And I'd really like to get some of the new tortillas.
Some years ago (20?), Sterling Bakery, in San Antonio, was a subcontractor, and produced shelf stable bread, cookies, brownies, and so forth. I went by and they were glad to sell small amounts. Of course, that may have changed...and, these days, shipping is probably an issue.
All of that said, I might be willing to do a larger lot - say, 100 pieces - if the price was right. Who knows, it might even be possible to do a group buy with more popular items.
Dverkamp, I appreciate your thoughts - do you ever do special orders?
Wild_Weasel, I haven't looked at Major Surplus - thank you, I'll get right on it!
Thanks again for your kind responses.
