I think this thing is in fact legit, i've seen pics of them in various places on the net (maybe here? can't recall) but at any rate what the seller doesn't mention, perhaps doesn't know either, is that this unit is most likely 24 volt operated. So if you drive a Komatsu haultruck or a Cat Dozer you'll be alright but not so good in the pickup when you're out bush tourin!

i can see the usefulness in it, the MRE heaters give off hydrogen and sitting in the back of a Bradley

(i think thats the UA armys APC) fulled with Hydrogen wouldnt be such a good thing

dermeister has it right - that's an electric heater meant to be used in military vehicles. I'm not 100% sure about the 24 volt part but that sounds similar to what I've read in other ebay auctions.

I've seen these before, both in eBay auctions and here on base. They work with the 24 volt systems. I'm trying to figure out of there is a way they could be converted to 12 volt.

its been about 3 years since i did electronics in school, but if you connected 2 12 volts (no exactly what your thinking about) and managed to connect the socket from the original system onto the batteries that might work (excuse the crude diagram hope its get my point across)

I heard rumours that there is some kind of convection mre heater/oven that was placed in Bradley Fighting Vehicles and other 24v tracked vehicles back in the early '90's, but I never actually saw or read about one.
