very interesting read.

Here's a problem that I see automatically...

1-the chicken is dry, and knowing how menu planning has been in the past...The buffalo or Chile-lime sauce the talk about will be in a completely different MRE. They don't seem to have a good track record of pairing individual items...(Sausage gravy with no biscuits or bread ring a bell? )

But, it's a real good insight into the R&D they use for new menu's.

Yup, interesting. I'm more excited by the "bowl" idea than by the pizza, frankly. Lots of options with a bowl.

Once again, though, they fail to address the breakfast shortage. Chicken with garlic lime sauce may be great, but it isn't all that appetizing at oh-dark-thirty. I wish they'd spend more time and effort towards a truly tasty egg dish than pizza.

I know the whole article was interesting, but c'mon - Army Pizza! Can't wait, really hope it does make it into 2015 production.

(Rocky puts fresh batteries in his crystal ball...)

I predict that if they finally put pizza in an MRE, it will:

be one very small square slice,

use snack bread as crust,

be soggy,

have that awful "Spaghetti-O" sauce,

feature processed "meat", and

taste mostly like preservatives.

If they weren't making such a big deal about it over the last several years I'd agree with that guess, but I'm hoping it's a few steps above that
