Here are some photos of my COFFEE INSTANT TYPE I stock:
Sometimes I take one pouch out of my supply case and mix a fine hot beverage. I never had a packet where the coffee was hard, it was always powdery
. The spray dried vintage coffee is a thousand times better than the modern freeze dried.

Interesting MreHeater72!
Thank's for the picture's and info!
To add to the topic:
- Favorite is still the CCC entree
( yes I know, there's a few guy's right now that look
)
- the spoon, usefull and multifunctional. Easy to 'convert' into a "vulcherspoon" as we call it here (that is a 1on1 translation).
The trick is to cut it's length by half and drill a hole in it. Then you attach it to your BDU with a cord. So you don't lose it and have it ready for use: that is to vulch the leftovers from the fieldkitchen's pan

Re: Favorite MRE Stuff?
I have to say none of the newer MRE's thrill me. I think they were much better when they had dedicated manufacturing for them instead of just buying commercially produced foods and packaging them.
I used to love:
Meatballs in BBQ sauce
Maple Nut Cake
The original Omelette with ham.
The solid ham chunk, whatever it was labeled.
Oatmeal cookie bar.
These were all in the late 80's early 90's.
When they discontinued the Meatballs and the maple nut cakes, a local surplus store got cases of them, not the whole meal but just those components. I bought a couple cases, but of course have long since been eaten.
I miss those tasty treats.
