Wow dirtbag! That sounds like what we got going to and from the sandbox in 1990 and 1991 on the C-5s. Amazing how much grease they could cram into a box lunch and still have it look like food. I also recall my father-in-law mentioning that since SAC had a plan for everything, the B-52 flight rations had optional items so that if crews were exposed to radiation and got sick, the food would be easy to digest. Not sure what that could consist of since, depending on exposure and stage of sickness, after awhile you basically have no use for food. :(

I did all of my MAC flying as a passenger, from 1970-1974, I don't remember any mayo or mustard packets, probably not invented yet...
Might have been a boiled egg, don't remember
Military hops saved money, but were maximum inconvenience.
Rode a C-141 from Virginia to Las Vegas, stopped in the damnedest places, asphalt strips in the middle of nowhere, nobody there, ramp down, kick a few pallets off, and take off.
Supposed to go to Vegas, I got kicked off in Utah, by some general and staff, going to play golf.
Left a bunch of GI's stuck in the middle of Utah!
Rode a C-118 ( DC-6 ), again from Virginia to Vegas, 16 hours, right engine smoking and leaking oil all the way.
Had to fly under 10,000 feet, as the plane had too many holes to pressurize.
