French Ration still good?

Post by TankerT »

I have a few French Rations that "expired" in 2011.

However, I have had them frozen since 2010. Any thoughts on if they are still to good to eat?

I'm guessing the spread and milky dessert could be spoiled, but the rest should be fine.

as he said: the best by only scratches on the milk or fish can in the ration. all other items have min. 2 more years best by dates printed on each item.

I can tell out of personal experience that those rations last even after they are expired.
I have eaten several French rations expired without any gastrointestinal problems.
So go ahead and enjoy them ,with caution of course.

The answer will come - for the rest of us - if we ever hear from TankerT again. Or not, LOL!

On a serious note: I'd be very wary of any canned item that has been frozen. Water expands when it freezes, and if a can seal has been broken, the food inside will definitely be compromised.
