Thanks a bunch guys! I'll definitely hunt down a breakdown manual for it Ay-sap, and it's too late, I'm already in love with this weapon!

 Glad to see it's had it's effect. I probably wouldn't brag about *that* though.

I bought a 1943 Mosin 95-31 a few years ago, rough on the outside, bore is dark as h*ll, but it shoots 2 inch groups at 100 yds, open sights...
Not bad, for $89 at Big 5 store!
Ammo is cheap!

Sierra, is a book called "The Mosin Nagant Rifle", author is Terence W. Lapin, is the most comprehensive book about this rifle. Have some chapters about dismantling, cleaning and refurbishing the gun. I'm pretty sure you'll find it printed on Brownells.com. If you need it as .pdf file, send me a e-mail adress and I'll upload to you.

Romania made this weapon (some variations of it) from 1949 to 1956, so I hope to get one in December as the second hunting rifle.

PS. About ammo, look for Sellier & Bellot Czech brand, is a very high quality ammo at reasonable prices, along with russian Barnaul/Wolf ammo and Prvi Partizan brand from Serbia.

Eastern bloc military surplus ammo is still pretty reasonable, and the soft point hunting ammo is becoming easier to find.

Ugly gun, but surprising performance!
