Tips for Mosin Nagant and Equipment,
Hey guys, recently acquired a 1935 Nagant straight out of a Factory-fresh box (I'm thinking this may be a knockoff), anyway I'd like to know what equipment would go well with it.
I already have the Stripper clip pouches, a canvas belt comes next weekend.

Re: Tips for Mosin Nagant and Equipment,
There are still plenty of "fresh from the crate" Mosin around. Even hex receiver ones.
They usually come with a sling, pouch and a little cleaning kit.
They dont really need anything else besides ammo

Re: Tips for Mosin Nagant and Equipment,
The Mosin is an excellent firearm, though some folks say a bit outdated. My advice to you, STD, is to find a bunch of M1 Garand 8-rd clip bandoleers, some Vietnam-era plastic bags with the heat strip to seal them (used for propaganda and to carry .223 stripper clips, depends which surplus store you talk to
) or if those are not available, glad snack baggies. Last but not least as many stripper clips as you can find, put the ammo on them, bag 'em and put them in the bandoleers for a rainy day. Some Mosin shooters will suggest a spare parts kit or two, mebbe not a bad idea if possibly considering a shtf scenario.

My apologies Sierra; I just realized that the 3 letters that abbreviate your name also stand for other things, my puter has been acting up lately and sometimes I have to shorten sentences, still no excuse.

Rationtin, not only is your advice awesome but not a problem, you see.... You're the first person in 4 long years to ever abbreviate my name correctly, and get the joke!

I think we all saw the "joke", but just assumed you were...diseased, and for some reason, were bragging about it...

Re: Tips for Mosin Nagant and Equipment,
Thanks Sierra! Too funny dirtbag, lol!
what can I say, I notice things like that. Btw Sierra, you will love the Mosin and believe me, the nice long barrel will really help with the recoil, the '44 carbine w/folding bayonet is a real *&^% to fire; probably just as well they made it a bolt action! You may want to also get either a manual or find a really well detailed step-by-step breakdown schematic for it because the bolt re-assembly can be very frustrating.

It has always been the first thing that jumps off the page, for me, when you participate in the discussion.

Re: Tips for Mosin Nagant and Equipment,
Thanks jaminphx, now I don't feel quite so funny about noticing it,
One more thing Sierra, when I got my Mosin it came with the same goodies you got, but the small flimsy oil-stained paper instruction "manual" that came with it was next to useless for me when it came to the bolt re-assembly, which is why I advise you to find a really good manual or else down-load some super detailed schematics for field-stripping and re-assembly. Fortunately that is about the only problem I have with the weapon, and that anyone else i've talked to who has one has had.
