New Russian ration?
There is a new Russian ration available, the RP-RSN (Ratsiona dlya Podrazdelenii Spetsialnogo Naznacheniya , "Daily Ration for Special Purpose Troops").
It is a one-day, 24 hour ration for 1 soldier, supposedly for recon & special forces. It is larger than the standard IRP-B and contains more food. It is packaged in a resealable camouflaged plastic bag, somewhat resembling an oversized MRE pouch. Inside is a thin pasteboard box which contains:
-6 pkg hard army crackers (8 per pkg, 50 g per pkg); 300 g
-1 can of Tushonka (fatty canned meat, usually pork) 325 g
-1 can of Kasha with beef (boiled buckwheat); 325 g
-1 can of fish; 250 g
-1 pkg of instant ramen noodles; 50 g
-1 large can of "zucchini caviar"; 360 g
-1 chicken bouillon cube (10 g)
-3 tubes of condensed milk (90 g each)
-3 bars of hard, bitter chocolate (20 g each, total 60 g)
-2 pkg tea (2 g each)
-4 pkg sugar (10 g each)
-1 box apple juice; 200 g
-3 fuel tablets & disposable folding ration heater
-3 moist towelettes
-1 multivitamin tablet
-1 pack of chewing gum (5 sticks)
-1 disposable butane cigarette lighter
-small folding can opener
-menu & instruction sheet
My question is, is this an official Russian military ration, or a commercial ration packaged to look like a military ration?

I think that it is commercial ration.donaldjcheek wrote:My question is, is this an official Russian military ration, or a commercial ration packaged to look like a military ration?
Other military rations have "thin" canned food. And Special Forces should consider that apple juice of a liquid and the cigarette lighter are unnecessary...

"Special Forces" is great sales messages!

I found the original blog. There are much more pictures.

That is a commercial version of a russian ration.

Re: New Russian ration?
Seems legit (to me, at least). There's an "everyday" model called the IRP-P and a combat one called the IRP-B. There's also a whole slew of new Russian MRE type deals coming out or in circulation. Have you guys checked out Voennoe Delo? It's akin to the American "Military Channel". Check out this interesting video. Note: they claim to say that American MRE's are full of soy fillers. Is that true? I mean, soy IS pretty tasty...
The best possible MRE: 1lb bag of Jalapeño cheese spread.
Re: New Russian ration?
I'll try to get a few and made an review. I have to send some deydrated food pouches to swap on them next week.
'cuz hunting ain't catch and release...
Re: New Russian ration?
Thx for the video!
MREs contain soy:

to make "grilled" flavour

as soy protein

soy protein concentrate

soy protein again...
Well, they contain soy protein, but a filler?!
Usually soy protein is added to give the food a thickening, but has NO cholesterol and is low fat, thay also have all 8 amino acids the body needs. This proteins are importent to built the muscles.
To me, there is nothing wrong with soy in rations.
Well, soy sauce is petty (salt) taste but it´s made from fermented soy beans. Tofu is also made from soy and it´s AB-SO-LUT-LY tasteless...cutsman wrote:Note: they claim to say that American MRE's are full of soy fillers. Is that true? I mean, soy IS pretty tasty...

Re: New Russian ration?
Russia is just insecure
I love tofu, I go through a block a week. I'd love a tofu MRE especially, but I think only Germany has done that.
