Regarding RCIR expiration dates...

Post by fdsman »

I've got an RCIR Menu Number 2 that has an expiration date of June 29th, 2012.

As I'm sure you're aware it's July 25th at the time of this posting.

Should I be concerned with this? I've seen others eat french rations that are much much older than this and have come out fine.

I have tried one being a few months out of date. Just do the normal inspection/ smell test. Look for bloating, leakage or weird smells. If nothing you should be good to go.

you`re doing fine - do not hesitate to eat - check for the cheese if it`s much, much older!

the epire date is made by the cheese can / milk dessert / fish can in the ration. the rest will have an best by date on minimum 2 years longer.

Bro, I have several RCIR's I got 6-7 years ago and most of the items have either expired or getting closer. The french rations stay fresh and edible for a long time as long as you keep them in a cool place. They are like the EPa's, they hold forever....       :P

Enjoy!
