This is terrible timing, since I recently found out that I'll be moving sometime in the next 1-4 months, and had promised myself I wouldn't buy anything bulky until after the move.

But Resistance was Futile... I've ordered a box.
My MRE-geekiness overruled my practical/common sense.
I have never seen these available even close to this price!
I cranked the numbers to rationalize it, and that comes out to 32500 calories, at a cost (including estimated shipping) of $5.05 per day (i.e. per 2000 calories), which is pretty dang cheap for anything shelf stable.

With CTD, it's always a guessing game as to whether something is fresh or older production, so your mileage may vary.

Houston, we have biscuits!
Lots and lots of MRE biscuits!

The production date stamp is "1294 3", which makes them almost exactly six months old!
The box is about 33 x 24 x 57 cm (13 x 10.5 x 22.5 inches), with a volume of about 44 L.
Note that it came in the original(?) obviously marked box (for you OPSEC nervous types). I'll post up pics, soon.

I quality controlled one (in combination with a microwaved Michelina's frozen chili mac), and it was as good as I remember, though fresher.

Quick question:
What MRE spreads/condiments/entrees does this best go with? I've had them with the Beef Brisket (yum!), but never with a spread, and would like to experiment.

I was feeling guilty about ordering this stuff, then realized that I have four friends I've been nagging about making Car Emergency Kits, so much of this order will go to making some kick-butt kits.

I also bought a "Brunton I.B. Cook Set" (two nesting hard anodized aluminium pots with one vented lid), and it appears to be better than I expected (very well designed with nice silicon-coated folding handles).
It feels good to have a decent pot - most of my old camping gear was in storage when the Midwest flood of 2008 hit, and was lost. I've been gradually replacing/upgrading/rethinking all of it, and this was the last "major" item on my list.

Tomorrow, if I remember, I'll try to use one of the pots with my Swiss gel fuel stove, take pictures, then post an update.

I've had the "AquaPod" in my CTD shopping cart for a couple of months, but it recently went out-of-stock, so I couldn't include it in this order. It's "made in the USA", and has some good reviews.

I had one of these last night - pretty good, but I won't pick up a case because of the silly high trans fat content of these biscuits.

Good observation! 4 grams of Trans Fat is WAY to high for a single item now days. That is more than the daily recommended amount of trans-fats for a 2000 calorie diet. By just looking at the nutritional content I would have expected these to be dated a long time ago not 2011 production.

When I got my first batch of Millennium energy bars, I was similarly surprised that current production rations had 3.5 g per 400 calorie bar.

Oh well, I'm not eating these every day, and have all but eliminated trans fat from my diet, so I'm not going to worry about this. I figure my mostly sedantary, often high-stress lifestyle will kill me long before these. [Homer-Simpson-voice] Mmmmm, biscuits.
