Post by Yowie » Thu Sep 22, 2011 11:19 pm

Hi all,
Was recently lucky enough to get some mre components in a trade. (thanks again NNF)
Felt like a coffee hit before work, so thought I would try this out.........

I have heard good things about this, but not sure why such a big packet for a 6oz drink
On opening.....

Smells good sweet
As per instructions.....

Looks good smells good, but its all in the tasting
My god thats sweet way too sweet....

Add more water
That's better still sweet, but better.

If I followed the instructions properly, is diabetic coma sweet.
Did like the flavour and is definitely better than instant coffee.
Over all good will know to put more water in next time, Would love it on a cold morning to open the eyes :D

The pouch is big so you can add the water, shake it up, and drink from it.

I believe that is the idea. Thus the ergonomic form factor of the bag itself.

That's definitely the idea - says so on the bag and that's what the "Fill Line" and resealable zipper are for. When you get a hot drink that's meant to be made outside the package (tea, cider, regular instant coffee) you almost always get a hot beverage bag as well these days so you can use the FRH to heat it up easily. The modern cocoa and fancy coffee's (irish cream cappucino, mocha cappucino, french vanilla cappucino) all come in this package although you sometimes run into the older style packaging (smaller pack, not suitable for mixing-in-bag) depending on the contractor. Next time you get one of these try mixing it in the bag, it's fun! On a side note, all modern dairy shakes come in this same style packaging for the same easy result (with the same contractor exceptions). Personally I love the new style as it makes it far more likely that I'll get those calories when eating an MRE out on a hike or camping trip. I have a case of MANY old-style packs that I just never busted open and mixed because having a clean canteen or cup available is a luxury and there are only so many times you can mix a drink in the outer bag before you develop an aversion to that plastic taste (or is that just me?).

Love that drink. Great with peanut butter and crackers.
