Hot CHILI MAC after a hike on a cold winter day

Post by mreheater72 » Sat Dec 18, 2010 1:54 pm

Hi guys,

for the last three weeks we had really winter in Upper Franconia, Germany, a lot of snow and f…ing cold. Today after a couple of days with massive snowing there was some sunshine so I did a little hike around a small barrier lake called "Förmitz-Speicher" with a MCW in rucksack, but I did not eat that. So back home I was hungry and took some hot MRE "CHILI AND MACARONI" DoP 2007 for supper. That entree is always great and very tasty :D , and it is even better with a "Weizen Beer", grain bun and of course old style ration spoon :) :

Hats off to you norge and mreheater72! That chili and macaroni was always way too spicy for me, but we had a female in our medic section who was a self proclaimed herbologist and she told us that very spicy food and spicy condiments added to the rations were excellent for the body during cold weather. She even went so far as to keep a box of "cold weather spices" on the ambulance! This is probably true, but my thoughts are "if you can't keep it down, how much good is it?"

Wow that is quite a bit of snow.
Chili mac is great when it is cold.
Cheers

Of course I go skiing, near my residence there are many opportunities to do that :) !

I aim to do snow shoeing, but current I have no snow shoes yet. At eBay.de some times ago there was an auction with “conservative” US Army snow shoes (Norge, I know you have a pair 8) ), but the price was too high :( . Recent hi-tech snow shoes I don’t like, but I hope that I will get some pair of US Army ones, then I will try them :) .

That’s an interesting statement 8) !

But I don’t think that "Chili Mac" is too hot without adding "Ground Red Pepper", yes, it is spicy, but it doesn’t burn on the tongue.
