You are all wrong lads.

My 30 years of personal research says anchovy lite.

Speaking of fish, I think the Japanese rations have the best fish dishes ever tried. Some of the most ambitious too.

I would love to try Japanese type 1 and 2 rations. Rationworld has got some amazing Japanese menu listings :D

I love oriental food, so any FE rations would be like gold to me. Western food can get samey at times.

Damn!
All the Rationworld Japanese menus have disappeared

They were there a couple of months back.

Every other national ration portal still seem to be there unchanged even expanded :?

Japanese eat a lot of fish, so I can believe it that they have quality rations with it aswell.
I don't like fish that much myself, so I always try to swap them for some pasta.

They are probably let out of the MREs, because people that grew up hundreds of miles from the sea generally dislike fish. I however find it a pity that there isn't more choice, but that's mainly a money thing.

Instead of 24 rations I'd go for 36. If it's your only food source for a while, and people generally dislike some of the meals, you only have about 20 "decent" meals left to eat. While eating 3 MREs a day, that would mean about a week untill you had everything you like once. I guess it would get boring after a while.

I used to like the German cevapcicci and hamburgers a lot, same goes for the Dutch pastas.. but after a while I simply didn't like them anymore. A sort of "Oh-man-not-again-trauma" I think.

Everybody knows MREs are traded under the group members.. and it wouldn't really be such a logistical effort to add an menu C (or even an D) case. Making more menues would mean higher production costs though. (Due to temporary storage costs, switching from production lines more often, etc). Rations are not the most expensive military items though. To bad modern western goverments have other hobbies then investing in the military.

But they'll have to beat me to death with it because it's empty.

DB thats the one, but if you click on the pics now for Japanese items, you just get an enlargement of the pic. You used to get full type 1 and 2 menu details and pics  Gone.

It had a really interesting salmon, a bonito, a mackerel in ginger 8) and a tuna in dark soy, all with rice sides, and many with canned pickles like radish. All very generous amounts too, especially the type 1s.They are the fish ones I remember. There were at least 2 more.Restaurant stuff. Was it 10 type 1 menus? The type 2 was closer to 16 IIRC.

Ted you are right. I still think there is a ways to go in ration development across the board, and they could be more clever with menu options. The newer MREs IMHO are less appetising than the old school classics of say 90-95. The UK ORP is now a glorified scout jamboree bag ( a UK variety candy bag from the 70s  ) the German and French rations seem to be holding firm, quality and variey wise. Whats the current Roumanian ration BTW Adrian? Thats a rare one.

Yes the centre of ration interest has gone to the FE in my opinion, fascinating new menus are coming out from Singapore, Thailand, etc. Indian rations would probably deserve a site of their own.

Romanians eat US made MREs..

The EPa might have the worst menu choice off all. The meals are good and tasty, but there is like no variation at all.
So it gets bored quite fast. Except for the hartkeks.. it's great with luncheon meat.

Ahh I remember. I mixed up. Instead of it going from 8 to 6 I thought it was going from 6 to 8.

I was wondering what these "phantom" new dishes were going to be...
