Check out that auction CaptBob posted above - looks like it closed at $77.77 plus shipping. And the guys has a few more cases up for auction now.

Kinda strange that someone bought THREE cases (at $77.77 apiece) for what amounts to MREs minus side dishes.

Hmmm...

I suppose it's a novelty since they're new.

Yeah, strange...but sometimes people get caught up in the bidding fever and spend more than they should. I'm sure that's what the sellers are hoping for.

I went back and checked the uscav.com site where they were selling the Eversafe meals and it looks like they only want $62/case. Looks like a better deal there than Ebay.

Hey! I forgot about this comment from kman:
So about one of the most important parts...the spoon...you said it was a long spoon and was white. Other than being white, was it just like the brown military MRE spoon? ---kman
Here's the "scoop" on the spoon. (Sorry, couldn't resist)

Your basic MRE spoon (NSN 7340-01-508-2742) is brown, seven inches long, and very sturdy. The specs are on the dscp.dla.mil website.

The spoon in the EverSafe meals is the same one I found in an IMP. It's white plastic, 8 inches in length, and a bit flimsier. The "bowl" portion is smaller and the the handle is more slender. The spoon is marked with the manufacturer "Dispoz-O USA" and the number "27" also appears. This company is on the web: http://www.dispozo.com

Might just be that he expects them to be a collectors item in the future
I have read before that wornick has be in and out of the commercial
mre markets before
I believe the last time the Company quit they setup longlife foods
to be their exclusive surplus retailer

Yes..if you look at the lower right hand column/main page you will still see=========
"Announcing!
The Wornick Company (the largest supplier
of MREs), has appointed us "Exclusive
Agent" for commercial MREs!

This means a continual flow of delicious
meat entrees, non-meat entrees, and lots of
tasty side dishes and sweet fruit desserts.

Look at all our pouch varieties! "

Wornick Website redone, Eversafe meal, First Strike info...

Post by BobS » Sat Mar 11, 2006 1:20 am

Thanks for this great website. I'm a MRE fan, and have enjoyed reading people's comments.

Wornick has redone their webpage--this week I think--and has posted more information about their Eversafe menu kits, as well as a menu. The menue contents still appear to be basic MRE components, hashbrowns with bacon, orange beverage base. I wonder if they still plan to have civilian friendly meals?

Under military MRE's there is a page for the First Strike ration.

Thanks again! :D

Wornick has redesigned their whole website.

The new information is great. The menus are an interesting mix:

Jambalaya, Chicken and Salsa, and Penne all appear twice albeit with variations as to the accompaniments.

It's far different than the case they sent me to try out.

As for "civilian friendly", they did tell me that they were working on the entree being in a self-heating bowl, etc. I guess we'll wait and see if those items are developed or not.

Here's a new one for you. Check out http://www.geteversafe.com/
I suppose this is going to be Wornick's Eversafe order website.
They have a 12 item menu in the new bowls. It states that they will be ready for shipment 5/4/06 and the heater will be salt water activated. Here's a link to the pdf menu.

http://www.geteversafe.com/EmergencyMea ... _bowls.pdf

Looks like they have a breakfast menu with oatmeal and also a new chicken item: glazed chicken, carrots and potatoes.

Has anyone seen this yet?

Great links. Menu sounds good. I especially like this sentence:

"We're so certain you'll find EverSafe™ a superior solution that we offer a free trial kit allowing you to preview the product" :)

BobS - good catch on the Wornick page about the First Strike ration - I hadn't been to Wornick's site in about a month and they sure did change it around (and add new info finally!). And by the way BobS - welcome to the forums!

Ret2Go - good find on the geteversafe site! Looks like some interesting menu choices. I'm glad they're finally going with a variety of 12 menus instead of 6 menus with repeats. One thing I just noticed that I didn't pick up on before - they have two menus listed - one for Eversafe meals with BOWLS and one with POUCHES. I wonder why they're doing it that way? You'd think it'd make more sense to just stick with pouches.
