No shipping to Canada?

Post by BushDevil » Sat Apr 03, 2010 8:52 am

Hi Everyone,
I'm new here, and confused to why all the good stuff that some companies have in the U.S. won't ship to Canada! Like some side dishes and main entrees, And what you can get in Canada is over priced robbery! And the selection is rather sad. I sure would like to get my hands on suff from the epic center and long life. Can anyone point me in the right direction up here?

Yeah as a fellow Canadian I understand the problem with buying American goods on the web. As alot of shipper don't like sending stuff up to us Canadian, and if they do it's expensive for the shipping, Another thing is that if they shipped out using the cheapest service(ups ground, fedex ground, and etc.. but not USPS) there will be a brokerage fee on the shipment. As MREs are pretty heavy right? so it got to go ground for shipping, which sucks for us Canadians. Lastly CBSA will stop all food coming into Canada without the right permits to import them. This only applies when using private couriers as USPS/Canada Post works with different regulations and there's just too much ground volume for the CBSA officers to check all the packages. I know this because I work inside the business of moving around stuff, and I just saw a broker and CBSA officer returned a shipment of Sausages. Also ask the shipper to declare it under "camping supplies or something without FOOD" when he/she ship out MREs/food, so you won't get ding. A side note, the funniest thing is that first thing I was taught was ethic in clearing goods and I shouldn't have to told you guys what flies under the radar. LOL

I personally either uses USPS to ship up North or just open an account for hold for pick up services down South. Also from my personal experience most Ebay seller will ship up North if you ask them to do so, but again it will cost you.

To date, I have had close to 2 dozen boxes of mres sent to Canada from the USA..all have arrived safe and sound.
These were items I bought on ebay or through this site.
Again, it depends on the shipper & how he describes the contents, but I have had stuff labeled as mre mail meals and side dishes and they came through just fine!
It is the shipping costs that will get you but some sellers will actually only charge you real shipping costs versus also a handling fee.
You can get mountain house cans and pouches delivered in Canada
http://store.prepared.pro/canadianmountainhouse.aspx
http://www.earthwaveliving.com/catalog/ ... -54-1.html
The latter has a sale on now until April 15th...so check it out

Hope this helps.........CALI

BushDevil,

I have sold a few ebay auctions to Canada before plus a few here on the forum. Calixtesaint can vouch for me on that. I sold one auction and one auction to her here not to long ago.

I can sell you stuff to you in you in Canada but be preapred to pay for it, that's all. And using paypal does make a bit of difference when buying stuff. You shouldn't be afraid to use it if you want MRE or stuff like that.

I can totally vouch for Treesuit- have bought multiple auctions from him on ebay and also from here.
Everything arrived intact and as described with reasonable shipping charges considering the weight.
BTW- I too was sceptical of using paypal.........but now I only use paypal and I have had no problems at all!

Thankx guys, I would love to deal with Treesuit and E-bay, but I don't have or use cards anymore, I pay cash, now I know now days, it's getting harder to do things this way, it seems you have to be wired into eveything! If you don't owe money anywhere, or have loans, institutions don't want to deal with you, kinda of funny. If bank draft or a bank transfer is not good good enough well I guess I am hooped, but I don't see a reason for a middle man like credit card compies and the likes of pay-pal to take a piece of the pie on any deal so someone is garanteed funds, when the same can be done by a bank draft send by mail, buyer pays the fee's, bank to bank drafts are instant cash to the seller, seller pays no fee's, So the buyer has to wait a bit for the mail! It's not like the product is going to bad by the time the funds clear and the seller ships! Paypal is a service, they don't do anything for free, you all pay for it,on both ends, and you can do with out them.

So, if someone can wait until till the mail gets there or bank to bank transfer, I will spend my time and money dealing with them and be loyal about it!

Not sure about Canadian banks, but most US banks have ATM cards that can also be used as a VISA card. The seller would have to pay the VISA transaction charges.
