Aircrew Survival Rations

These seem to be very hard to find. All the bars are made by Sterling Foods, San Antonio, TX. The Corn Flake bar is not unlike the "Van Brode Milling" corn flake bar, from the Viet-Nam war era. The Shortbread Bar and Chocolate Desert Bar are tasty. The Granola Bar and Corn Flake Bar rule!. The little green tube of Wintergreen tablets are for the Astronauts with bad breath, I guess.

Those are assembled here in Oklahoma by the League of the Blind same as the old tin cans.....they recently changed their name though.But is the same company.

I noticed that none of the bars, nor the outer box, has any so-called "nutritional value" info. I guess thats why these are so hard to find. The only way you might get them, is if you know an Eagle pilot, or maybe some Chinook/Blackhawk Army aviators.

Today for lunch at work I had one of the oatmeal bars that come in one of the "tincans" GP rations. For a ration bar that 's 20 years old it tasted perfect!!! The can had id dated 1990.
I still have two bars left...one granola and one oatmeal .The rest of the components , coffee, creamer, and soup packets were in perfect condition after 20 years.
Trust me ,they bulk you up if you wahs it down with plenty of water....

My friends insist that I'm confused but I remember an aircrew survival ration which included a spam-sized can of a spam-like meat product. I believe it was an aircrew survival ration for B-52 bomber crews, and I saw it at an air show display about 10 years ago, does anyone know which ration/lot it may have been or am I just losing it?

i have not seen that type of can,only these types:
from my collection:








but i know there was a number1 can and a number 2 can like the gold color ones
back in the 1950s and 60s for the jet pilots survival kits
thats the cans you migth think of?

it migth be one of those since i never seen one of them open...

Very similar norge but the can's label indicated it was a meat product of some sort and it was a dark olive-drab color.

My father-in-law once told me that when he was a B-52 tail gunner, their rations often included cans of pemmican something about raisins and mystery meat held together with grease just does not appeal to me.

ah olive drab cans,the canadians had od spam cans i the 1960s
seen a few of them for sale on ebay.

pemmican sounds good but when i found out about the dry fruit and bunch fat
i didnt want to try it.

the ww2 pemmican cans was smal silver color cans sized like? not shure what
to say. can be found on eaby to,bu most of the cans have a nasty bulge

there was something similar also called pemmican in the French survival rations of the 80's
