11 MREs and 12 FRHs

Post by mreheater72 » Fri Dec 18, 2009 2:25 pm

Hi guys,

today the mailman brought me a case of MREs :D which was an eBay-purchase.

Here you can see:

As I get the case it was not originally packed, and there were only 11 MREs in it, the twelfth (Menu No. 5 "Spaghetti with Meat Sauce" is missing) was replaced by a pack of 12 FRHs. 1993 was the year they began to add FRHs to the MREs, because here, two years before, they added it to the case before issued to the troops :?:  .

Very Interesting. So, they sacrificed one of the MRE's for the heaters, but packed 12 heaters instead of 11.

I'm hoping you do a review of one of these dark browns as I would be interested to see the results.

I have avoided buying these older MRE's as the newer ones are readily available over here, but I can get these older ones for a cheaper price.

Thanks!

Scotty

Perhaps you are right, but I don´t think so! I asked the seller before bidding on the case, and he answered he got two cases which were similar, each with 11 MREs and a pack of heaters. I don´t know whether he told me the truth, but I guess that it was very reasonable that army supply personal add the FRHs to a case before they issue it e. g. to a tank crew or a squad, which is not in vicinity to a field kitchen :!:

I hope and believe it is not a fake :) !

Hi Hagen,

I never got a case with FRH as extra pack inside the case in the past.
I also asked a friend who is working as a civilian for the army in the warehouse.
He had and has realy a lot MRE cases but he also never got a case which had an extra pack of FRH inside.
I can remember that the army gave out the FRH in an extra case with about 50 packs a 12 welded FRH before they put a single FRH in every MRE bag.
So I guess your case was opened and the twelfth MRE bag was replaced by one bag of welded FRH.
Maybe for realize a better price for the case or maybe for own needs.

I think the lowest price I have paid for 12 FRH's here in the States is about $8, or about 70 cents/per.

I'm pretty sure they are availble for a cheaper price per FRH if they are bought in bulk.

Still, I think at least monetarily this case is not a "rip of", but if you order 12 MRE's you expect 12 MRE's.

Servus Hans,

it would be interesting to know who openend the case and added the pack of FRHs, the ebay seller or army personal!!??

I have no idea were the troops get their MREs when going to an exercise, do you have :?: :?:

Here are a couple users that join or joined US Army, were did you get the rations when you go on maneuver :?: :?:

Happy Christmas!!

Hi,
I just can tell you how it normally works at HTA.
Here is a big warehouse where the MREs are stored for permanent US company’s and external US divisions which are on training term.
Usually external US division doesn’t bring their ration to a training area.
They refer them from the training area warehouse.
Normally the cases are not opened by warehouse personal.
They were given out original packaged.

But as I said I just can tell you for here maybe in other barracks or training areas they manage it on other ways.

So I assume that the case you got with one extra pack FRH but one missing MRE was opened by troops in the field and they packed in the extra pack FRH later and your seller got it this way or the seller repacked the box .

verspätete  Frohe Weihnachten auch Dir !

Dude, you got ripped off. You could sell the brownies to somebody, for collector purposes.
After the Chicken and the Egg, came the "Omelet"!
