Modular Operational Ration Enhancement (MORE)

Post by housil » Fri May 22, 2009 10:42 am

Have you ever heard about:

Modular Operational Ration Enhancement (MORE)

The Modular Operational Ration Enhancement (MORE) is being developed for the purpose of augmenting daily operational rations with scenario specific enhancement packs. Two types of MOREs will target high altitude/cold weather and hot weather operational environments.

Housil,

Not sure where you found that article but it's just very interesting to read. These rations look and sound like they might be improvemtns over the FSR's. If so I can't wait to try one.

I would guess they're aimed at Afganistan, and Iraq...
Too many guys losing weight, is not good. This will help.
Good Idea, but other countries led the way with supplements.
I like MRE's, but I would not look foward to a steady diet of them, it would get boring very soon.

Is interesting a "beefed up" and modified FSR... :|
The thing is they are trying to "enhance" up with things like caffeine and other chemical "nutrients" to enhance the soldiers capabilities....
Another collectable...

Peace!

Talk about a waste of money. That whole program probably cost billions. They could have just put MORE in the basic MRE's. Or shipped them MRE C's

The supplemental rations remind me of something that happened at the last job I had. There was an older Vietnamese woman who sat next to me.

I brought an MRE in for lunch one day, and showed it all to her. She laughed very hard and said "Americans! You always have so much food!"

That almost seems stupid. If they aren't getting enough food, they just need another MRE or something. If they aren't available, there's a larger issue. I imagine that part of the problem is you're out in the desert, hot, tired, and all of a sudden someone plops down a 1300 calorie dense MRE in front of you and says eat it. It's just bound to get hard to swallow. I guess that maybe this will help on that level, but they don't need more, they need a desert ration that addresses the best way to get soldiers to eat out there. Maybe this is it, but I doubt it. It just sounds like a way to throw a few hundred extra calories at them. Not being a soldier I might be way off base though in my assumptions, maybe they're scarfing down their MREs and wishing they could split another one with someone and there aren't any to be had, so this is the answer. I just don't think I'd be snacking throughout the day in 120 degree weather, and I live in Texas so I at least have a sort of baseline comparison, you just don't get hungry when it's that hot. *shrug*
