Cool...they just kind of jammed them in there however could, didn't they? In one of the cases of APack civilian MREs I just received, a couple of the MREs were turned sideways like that but I've never (before now) seen that in a case of military MREs. Who packed the case? Wornick, Ameriqual, or Sopakco?

Yeah,

I've seen that before on some half empty MRE 2008 cases. Seems whomever packed them threw them in all helter skelter like.

This is a Wornick case(Cincinnati). Has the little sf on the bottom. Of course we know that does'nt mean "Special Forces". 8) Got it at the C&E Show, today. as a matter of fact.

Menu 18 is Beef Patty. Menu 24 is Chicken with Salsa. All others in this B case are per standard menu for late 2008 pack.

I have a case in my basement that is packed in a similar way. The Date Packed is 8/89 and it is from SO-PAK-CO. INC..

I opened the #13 Tortellini. It has the apple cinn. first strike bar. Along with the fact the case had beef patty for menu 18, I think this was earlier than usual transition from year to year menu differences. I was wrong about the #24. Correct Chicken w/ Salsa, for 2008 though. It used to be the other way. Up to April-May pack dates of whatever year, were previous year menus, in my experiance.

DangerousDave - over on this page:

http://www.dscp.dla.mil/subs/support/qa ... /index.asp

you can find the date-of-pack for various years to tell exactly when they started using the new menus. Here's what they say:

MRE XVIII (DOP Oct 1997 - Sep 1998)
MRE XIX (DOP Oct 1998 - Sep 1999)
MRE XX (DOP Oct 1999 - Sep 2000)
MRE XXI (DOP Oct 2000 - Sep 2001)
MRE XXII (DOP Oct 2001 - Sep 2002)
MRE XXIII (DOP Oct 2002 - Sep 2003)
MRE XXIV (DOP Oct 2003 - May 2005)
MRE XXV (DOP May 2005 - Apr 2006)
MRE XXVI (DOP May 2006 - Dec 2006)
MRE XXVII (DOP Jan 2007 - Dec 2007)
MRE XXVIII (DOP Jan 2008 - Present)

That's interesting that they seem to have adjusted the start of the new menu cycle to begin in January.

Good.

Yes, talk about a confusing system - check out those dates for the 2004 menus - October 2003 through May 2005. That's quite a spread!
