Ebay asshats

Post by kman » Tue Oct 18, 2005 10:27 am

I was browsing the ebay MRE auctions this morning and can't decide which one of these guys is the bigger asshat:

$99 for a case of IMPs:

or 9 entrees (that are at least 13 years old) for $20-$25:

BackwoodsPundit - I took a look at that auction and my first thought was, "that's not so bad - 2 cases of HDRs for $60" - but then I got a look at shipping. Holy crap...$50! I don't know about that.

Damn you beat me to it!

I was gonna say - Biggest. Asshat. Ever.

They probably got the friggen case for free. Ebay should have a report function for stuff like this - after all they are trying to get around paying fees to ebay and maximize their profit, ripping off the customer AND ebay.

Actually I should add - their ebay ID has the word "boner" in it, so perhaps that is truth in advertising :)

YOu know, ebay really needs a message board like this so people can make comments about items, or at least something like Amazon.com

This guy is only 2 hours away from me and he wants $7 to send it via parcel post. Sounds like he's padding shipping by about $5. Good thing there are no bids so far.

Shipping on eBay blows for the most part. This lady was selling 4 cases of 2008 MRE's (which ended up with a final price around $180) and she was all of 40 miles away from me and she didn't offer to readjust shipping costs ($80 was the original shipping) for actual cost and wouldn't let me pick them up. That was a good deal too but I wasn't going to pay $80 for shipping so I didn't bid.

Yeah, unfortunately (for us buyers), a lot of ebay sellers plan on making a good part of their profit on shipping. The one sure way you can tell a decent ebay seller from an asshat is to tell them that you live near them and ask if you can pick up the item in person. :-)
