new mre bag designs

hi all

does anyone have details about the new bags? in which inspection dates are which bags in? i guess in case b with inspection 07/10 is menü nr 18 meatballs with marina sauce. all other is old bag design. manufacturer is sopacko.

My understanding was that they'd start using the new bags in 2008 - not sure of the month - probably depends on when they ran out of the supplies of old bags.

They should appear in all A & B cases for all menus.

my only one i got (its still sealed and lieing in my display

) was packed 7199. its a little bit early - what do you think? or can it be a prototype?

7199 seems pretty early for the new design. Maybe it was a prototype of maybe one of the suppliers just jumped the gun on the production.

Answer:

In 2006, the US Army Natick Soldier RD&E Center began evaluating new graphic designs for the MRE bags. They started off with 18 new designs and weeded that list down to 9 designs. Further review brought the list down to 5 designs and those designs were "field tested" with soldiers to see which ones they preferred. Natick finally picked the three best designs and decided to use all three in the new MREs.

In the 2008 Assembly Contract Requirements, the DSCP specifies these three new graphic designs for the MRE bags.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Each design will be on four MREs in each case.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah - we know that there are 3 designs. here it goes on the production date. the one i have is with the new design pd 7199 - not 8001 or later.

do you understand what i mean?

oh, sorry but now I got it

I got one that is packed at 7199 that must be some kind of a test MRE...

I also heard that there are some of the new desing already in the 2007 boxes ... (I think they are the meatballs)
