Empty Tabasco bottles

Post by housil » Sat May 05, 2007 3:09 pm

I can remeber about several posting about empty Tabasco bottles and the suggestions why, but I can´t where...
So I decided to start a new topic

We had several MRE´s tonight for dinner. 2006 Jambalaya and Chicken w/ Noodles.

In one accessoiry paket the Tabasco bottle was empty, see why:

The bottle cap became - how ever - leaky, the accessoiry paket is still closed and seemed vacuumed...

I've seen that a lot in the 2004-2005 MREs. I don't know why the bottles are leaking like that - must be a production problem. I haven't had that problem in earlier MREs and haven't seen it in any 2006 MREs, either.

Of course, they're starting to put Tobasco in fewer and fewer MREs, which I think sucks.

Hi Olli,

I have watched a similar problem in regard with the Tabasco bottles! Many bottles were nearly empty in the closed Accessory Packets, but there were no traces of Tabasco on the other Accessory Packet entrees :?: ! It has disappeared into thin air :D !

Nabend Hagen,

that´s why I posted the pictures.
It wasn´t the first time, that I had an empty Tabasco bottle in.
But it was the first time with evidence that the bottle was leanking (inside the pack)

I think the problem is just in the packaging from McIlhenny. I've acquired a number of these miniture bottles over the years both from MRE packages and from commercial resources, like restaurants. I've had some bottles just "evaporate" while sealed and standing upright. Older bottles have just oxidized to the dark red color that others here have mentioned.

I have encountered many empty tabasco bottles in my accessory packs. I rarely use the tabasco so it really is no big deal to me.

some bottles of MRE-Tobasco from 1994 (4210), found in the woods three weeks ago.
After this long time with extreme temeprature changes the colour is still good red and nothing leaked.
