I'd never seen them so I looked up the phone number on the bag and found: http://www.longlifefood.com/gsa-mre.html

When I went back I could see the url on the bag too, I missed that at first.

It looks like yet another re-pack.

Long Life seems to specialize in the MRE components. They sell a rather complete line of the entrees, sides, snacks and etc. apparently from the same source as the military MREs.

It could be that since they are buying so many components it is cheaper for them to put the components that they have a warehouse full of into a bag then pay for the pre-assembled MREs.

Long Life Food

Post by jfko6 » Wed Sep 17, 2008 9:56 am

I bought plenty of those. Essentially they are the same as an MRE. There spoon and accessory pouch is good and useful minus the toilet paper. If you have plenty of real MRE's you don't need to try these. I actually have a preference for them because of their useful accessory pouch and spoon.

I did get a case of the runs once from one component I tried: Lemon Poppy Pound Cake. Reason: unknown.

Components vary so you have no choice of menus. I like it that way. Others prefer menu choices.

As with any civilian MRE there is always one slight disadvantage that I hate --you never get the same amount of food that's in a real MRE. The Halal Meals might be an exception because military procurement rules do not prohibit sales to civilians.

I believe LLF will make custom MREs for you if you pay the right price
