Well, the show is pretty accurate in respect to the the U.S. Marines and their first 5 weeks of the invasion of Iraq. It is also accurate in portraying the lack of equipment for the Marines, their interaction between soldiers, incompetence of some officers, the constant change in missions, the soldiers moral and ethics conflicts, the Marines total dedication to fight, their mind-set in wartime, the soldiers perspective on the war and etc.
If you get the chance to watch the extras that HBO provides for the show, you will see that HBO and the actors have all painstakingly taken their jobs seriously and try their best to accurately portray the life of the recon Marines. Remember that this isn't some made up story about fictional characters, this is a true story of the Recon Marines and the two weeks before and the first five weeks of the Iraq invasion. To make the show as real as can be, the actors have been trained by the actual soldiers that they are depicting and a couple of the actors are playing themselves in the movie like Sgt. Reyes aka Fruity Rudy, he was in the recon Marine team that this show is about, along with a host of other military consultants.
They say their goal of this show was to have Recon Marines watch this and say, yeah I was there and I remember that.
IMHO pretty accurate.

Yeah Sex in the City if you we're forced to watch that I salute you sir LOL!!!fieldtest wrote:OK, thank you for your remarks.
I will give it a chance and download it tonight.
Until now HBO was for me the network for shows like "Sex and the City" (girls force you to view it) or "True Blood" (girls vampire show)
Let´s see....
But for all the Sex in the City type shows HBO has they have had some hardcore shows like the Sopranos ( I love them), OZ, umm...well that's all I can think of now LOL

I watched "Over There" when it was on last year. I thought it was pretty good - had a definite political slant - but wasn't too horrible. I've only seen episode 1 of Generation Kill so far (got #2 saved up) but so far, I'd say it's much better.SAR1 wrote:Well anyone remember the show OVER THERE? A pretty accurate show of Iraq but it got cancelled in the middle of a season so I really hope it doesn't end up like that. But all in all I like the show.
