Cool stuff, katojapan. I was going to ask you to translate the labels on the package but then I got a closer look at the second picture and see they already have English on there. Now that's useful!

"rice" is written the same way in Chinese and Japanese (kanji), the star-like symbol, isn't it?

I'm guessing PLA stands for "People's Liberation Army" of China.
